Welcome to the music ministry of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church!
We are a diverse group with a wide range of musical background. The tie that binds all of us is the love of God and His son, Jesus Christ, and the desire to help spread the Gospel message through the gift of music. Music is an integral part of worship in the Catholic faith, and our goal is to help achieve a full, active, and conscious participation of the entire assembly in the music of the liturgy.
Our 5:30 Saturday group is open to all and practices at 5 p.m. Saturday before Mass. This group consists of vocalists, organ/keyboard, bass guitar and is always ready with open arms to welcome new members.
Our 8 a.m. Spanish Choir, Mensajeros De Dios, is an ever-growing group, dedicated to prayer and worship through music. Directed by Jose Maldonado, this choir practices on Tuesday evenings at 7 p.m. in the church
Our 9:30 a.m. choir is a contemporary group consisting of vocalists and guitars, and the group leader, Dan Sampson, has been blessing our church with his music since he was in 8th grade at Our Lady of Perpetual Help School! This group practices in the church on Thursdays at 6 p.m.
Our 11:00 choir is a wonderful group of people, young and old, who practice on Wednesdays at 7 p.m. in the conference room of the parish office. We are primarily accompanied by the organ and keyboard, with various other instruments from time to time.
Our 5:30pm Sunday evening choir consists of the young and the young at heart. Most members are high school and college students, but all are welcome in this group. We practice on Sundays at 4 p.m. in the church.
If you are interested in joining one of our choirs, you are more than welcome to come to any of our practices. This does not have to be a weekly commitment. We appreciate the time you can give. We do ask, however, that you attend practice any week you would like to sing.
Instrumentalists are welcome also, but are asked to please call Elaine Vela, Director of Music and Liturgy, at 307-4216 for further audition information.
